Why Doesn't Little Rock Host An
Arkansas Diamond Bowl ?

With the obvious interest in football by Arkansas fans and a good facility like War Memorial Stadium, why don't we host a bowl game?
The economic benefits are well known, the potential sponsors are plentiful, and the fans are ready. Where is the leadership we need to organize the annual event? Does it begin with the Mayor, the Tourist & Convention people, or the Governor?
Let's face it . . . the big stadium is now updated and is under-utilized. The hotels and restaurants could use the business.

Arkansas Football

Congratulations to Arkansas State University and the University of Central Arkansas for stepping up their programs to compete in Division One.
The flagship university in Fayetteville has also made great strides to become a national power. Hopefully they can improve the graduation and education status of the student athletes.

Arkansas Tennis  -  The Fall Tournament Season

The first tournament in September was a senior event on clay at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village.  The Diamante Senior Mixed Doubles Championships, as it is called, began Friday, September 10th.
The tournament offered brackets for 6.0, 7.0, and 8.0 teams from Hot Springs, Little Rock, and the Village.  All players received special T-shirts commemorating the sanctioned tournament.

The Sugar- Fumble Fingers Bowl
Ohio State 31  -  Arkansas 26

How could so many of the "best receiving corps" in America drop so many passes? Knile Davis certainly did his job rushing for about 150 yards
The Arkansas defense did their job most of the time except for two notable fumble-finger events which should have been interceptions. They never quite figured out that the OSU quarterback shouldn't be allowed outside of containment.
Ryan Mallett proved that he isn't quite ready for the pros. He held the ball too long on many plays and threw too many bad passes under pressure.

Heard on the Street

Wally Hall doesn't like tennis which is why it gets little or no coverage in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Rap is not music . . .
It is a rhythm but has no tonal quality.
It is more like a poorly written poem.
